Polish yacht industry has a long tradition. Many shipyards were established after World War I, when Poland regained its independence in 1918. There are also shipyards that were already known in the 19th century.
A Leading Boat Producer in Europe
Over the last two decades, the production of yachts in Poland has been growing rapidly. At the beginning of the 1990s, the value of about 3000 finished yachts was several million dollars. Currently, the production amounts to over 20,000 sailboats and motor boats and is worth several hundred million dollars. Let’s also add that between 2005 and 2007, when production worldwide grew at a rate of several percent per year, the sales of Polish yachts exceeded 22.5 thousand per year! It can be assumed that this is also a real potential of Polish yacht shipyards.
The global economic crisis has caused a deep recession in the maritime industry. In the United States sales fell by more than 50 % and the situation in Europe was only slightly better. Polish shipyards are highly dependent on exports, as about 95 % of their production is shipped abroad.
